The lead developer of Assassin's Creed Shadows has confirmed that choosing to focus on a single protagonist won't mean missing crucial content.

Assassin's Creed Shadows offers players a choice between two compelling characters: Naoe, a female shinobi, and Yasuke, a historical African samurai—a choice that has generated significant pre-release discussion.

Concerns arose among fans that prioritizing one character might lead to a less complete story or gameplay experience.

Jonathan Dumont, the game's creative director, addressed these concerns, describing his own balanced approach:

"I tend to switch between characters fairly evenly. For instance, I might play 3-5 hours with one, then switch to the other for 2-3 hours."

However, Dumont reassured players that favoring one character won't significantly hinder their experience. While each protagonist boasts unique opening sequences and personal storylines, the game's narrative adapts to the player's chosen path. He encourages players to play as they prefer:

"I don’t believe you’ll miss out on much. It truly depends on your personal playstyle. You might even enjoy experimenting to see how the game adjusts based on your character choice. Each hero has their own distinct introduction and dedicated quests, but the core experience remains flexible. Choose your favorite; the narrative will adapt."
