Anointing Guide for Path of Exile 2 (PoE 2)
In *Path of Exile 2*, enhancing your character's power is crucial, and anointing is a key mechanic that can significantly boost your capabilities. While some power boosts are straightforward, anointing can be a bit more complex. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to anoint items in *Path of Exile 2*.
How To Get Distilled Emotions in Path of Exile 2
Anointing your amulets and Waystones becomes available later in the game, as it requires Distilled Emotions, which are obtained from Delirium Maps. If you're familiar with the original game, you might notice that Distilled Emotions function similarly to Blight Oils. There are ten varieties of Distilled Emotions: Despair, Disgust, Envy, Fear, Greed, Guilt, Ire, Isolation, Paranoia, and Suffering.
The primary method to acquire Distilled Emotions is by completing Delirium Maps, which reward you with a random selection of these emotions. Alternatively, you can obtain them through currency exchange or the trade market.
For those looking to upgrade their Distilled Emotions, the Reforging Bench is your go-to. By using three of the same type, you can create an upgraded version of that Distilled Emotion, giving you control over which emotions you enhance.
For a more challenging approach, Simulacrum waves offer a chance to drop Distilled Emotions, though this method is less efficient and requires a robust build due to the increased difficulty.
How To Anoint Items in Path of Exile 2
Currently in *Path of Exile 2*, which is still in Early Access, you can anoint Waystones and amulets. More options may be introduced in future updates. To anoint an amulet, choose a Distilled Emotion to access the Instilling window. The specific emotion doesn't matter at this stage. Place your amulet in the central box and add a Distilled Emotion to each of the three bottom boxes. The required emotions for the desired anointing ability are detailed in the Passive Skill Tree; simply hover over a Notable Passive Skill and press alt on a keyboard or R3 on a controller to see them.
The skills you choose to anoint will vary depending on your build, and remember, this effect isn't permanent. You can re-anoint your amulet by repeating the process, allowing you to adapt your skills to your current build as needed.
Waystones can also be anointed to increase their difficulty, which in turn can yield better loot. However, both amulets and Waystones cannot be anointed if they are corrupted.
With this guide, you're well-equipped to enhance your amulets through anointing, boosting your current build, or challenging yourself by anointing a Waystone in *Path of Exile 2*.
