Anime's 'Death Note' Meets 'Among Us'
Death Note: Killer Within – An Anime-Themed Among Us Experience Arriving November 5th
Bandai Namco's highly anticipated Death Note: Killer Within is set to launch on November 5th, bringing the thrilling world of Death Note to a social deduction game similar to Among Us. Available on PC via Steam, PS4, and PS5, it will be included in PlayStation Plus's November free games lineup.
Developed by Grounding, Inc., Death Note: Killer Within pits players against each other in teams representing Kira and L. Up to ten players engage in a game of deception and deduction, with Kira's team aiming to conceal their identity and eliminate L's team, while L's team strives to uncover Kira and seize the Death Note. The gameplay unfolds in two phases: an Action Phase where players gather clues and perform tasks, and a Meeting Phase where players discuss their suspicions and vote to eliminate a suspect.
The game features customizable accessories and special effects, enhancing the player experience. Voice chat is recommended for effective team communication and strategic planning. Cross-play functionality ensures a larger player base across all platforms.
While PlayStation Plus subscribers gain early access, the game's price for other players remains unannounced. Concerns exist that an overly high price point might hinder its success, mirroring the initial struggles of Fall Guys before its transition to a free-to-play model. However, the strong Death Note IP is expected to provide a significant advantage in the competitive party game market.
Gameplay distinguishes itself from Among Us with Kira's followers, who communicate privately and can even inherit the Death Note. L's team utilizes unique investigative abilities, such as surveillance cameras and strategic guidance during discussions.
Teamwork and deception are paramount to victory. The game's potential success hinges on its ability to engage both existing fans and new players, promising exciting gameplay and memorable moments.
