Polish developer 11 Bit Studios has released a new trailer for their upcoming sci-fi adventure, The Alters, highlighting its connection to their critically acclaimed wartime survival game, This War of Mine. The new trailer reflects on the studio's journey, showcasing the stark contrast—and surprising similarities—between these two titles.

While This War of Mine is renowned for its grim and hopeless atmosphere depicting the realities of war, The Alters embraces a more vibrant, often humorous narrative. This new game centers on the adventures of alternate versions of protagonist Jan Dolski, each facing unique challenges. Despite these tonal differences, the developers emphasize a core thematic link between the two.

Both games place survival at their heart. In This War of Mine, players grapple with the harsh realities of a war-torn city, meticulously managing resources and enduring daily struggles to keep their civilian group alive. The Alters, however, presents survival as a desperate race against time, demanding players constantly relocate their mobile base to escape a relentless, dust-inducing sun.

Both games push players beyond their comfort zones, forcing them to navigate hostile environments in search of vital resources. The Alters is slated for release in 2025 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It will be available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass from launch day.
